Things To Do For Your Cat This Year

January 1, 2023

Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions today? Whether you are heading into 2023 with a checklist of goals, or just have some loose aims to achieve, your kitty will be supervising your progress either way. This is actually a purrfect time to revisit Fluffy’s care regimen! A local Clarkesville, GA vet lists a few things you may want to put on your agenda below.

Play

Cats may enjoy doing nothing, but even the laziest furball likes to unleash their inner lion from time to time. Make a habit of playing with your feline pal every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

Petproof

It’s not hard to see how that old myth about cats having nine lives came about: kitties are definitely very mischief prone,  especially when you’re young.  Make your home safe by addressing potential hazards. Some of these include small or sharp objects, wires and cords, plastic bags and ties, and anything that could be toxic, such as plants or chemicals. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Stimulation

Fluffy won’t be very happy if she has to stare at the walls all day. Make sure your feline buddy has plenty of stimulation. Window seats are great for this! You can also turn a TV or radio on for your furball. This is a good thing to do if you are leaving Fluffy home alone.

Preventative Care

Kitties are quite hardy, but they are still vulnerable to parasites, illness, and injury. Be sure to keep up with wellness care! Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule. At home, keep an eye on Fluffy, and watch for signs that she isn’t feeling well. Call us right away if you notice anything unusual. Cats tend to mask signs of sickness, so you may not notice anything is wrong until your pet is very sick.

Offer Boxes

Fortunately for us, our feline overlords don’t have expensive taste. Just providing Fluffy with empty boxes on occasion will help keep that cute smug expression on her face.

Purrs

Kitties form very close bonds with their humans, and need to feel loved. Pay lots of attention to your furry pal, and carve out time with her every day.

All of us here at Petwise, your local Clarkesville, GA, wish you a wonderful and prosperous new year. Please feel free to contact us anytime!
