Fluffy’s Holiday Traditions

December 15, 2022
Do you have a lot of seasonal traditions? Whether it’s cooking specific dishes, going to favorite spots, or watching certain movies, many of us have our own little holiday rituals and events we enjoy. Actually, our feline friends have a few of their own. Here, a Dawsonville, GA vet lists some of the adorable but purrplexing things Fluffy will do this month.

Tree Shenanigans

At the top of the list, we have Fluffy’s adorable but often ill-fated seasonal attempts at climbing Christmas trees. Outside, kitties use trees for shelter, safety, napping spots, and lookout points. Inside the house, well, trees basically become cat furniture hung with toys … as least as far as Fluffy is concerned. (Tip: Put most of the decorations on the top of the tree, leaving just a few sturdy, unbreakable objects on the bottom.)

Enjoy Some Catnip

It’s probably safe to say that many of our feline patients will be having fun with their favorite plant this month. However, not all kitties react to catnip. Kittens usually don’t get interested in it until they are between 3 and six months old. And, of course, many senior furballs are just more interested in napping.

Nap

No matter what day or time of year it is, Fluffy will strive to keep up with that hectic napping schedule. Try to make room for her under the tree. After all, she is a precious gift! (Tip: a new bed is a purrfect gift.)

Help With Gift Wrapping

Kitties are hardwired to switch into play mode in certain situations. As soon as you bring out that paper, your furry friend will ramp up to full frisky. Fluffy isn’t very helpful, but she is an adorable assistant.

Steal Boxes

Our feline pals are all very unique individuals, but they do have some things in common. At the top of that list? A box obsession! Have the kids make Fluffy a box castle out of the empty boxes.

Zoomies

Don’t forget to fill Fluffy’s stocking! Interactive toys, such as laser pointers, are great options for your furry buddy.

Cuddle

Jokes aside, cats are very loving and cuddly, and love to snuggle up with their humans. Enjoy some quiet quality time with your kitty this month. These little furballs make great movie-watching buddies! Happy Holidays from everyone here at Petwise Vet Care, your Dawsonville, GA animal clinic. Please contact us anytime!
